We left Chicago at around 6pm around Noah's bedtime. The plan was to make the 5 hour drive at night while the baby slept. Our plan worked, and Ty and I got some quiet time on the road to talk and enjoy the thousands of fireflies that sparkled all along the gorgeous highway. We would laugh when a firefly would hit the windshield, but only because it left an iridescent glow as it splattered!
We arrived to St. Louis, Missouri around midnight and got a decent nights rest at a Days Inn that was in a sketchy neighborhood. We booked the Inn on Hotels.com just a few hours before our arrival, and the description read something like. "Days Inn Downtown is within walking distance to everything...." Um, likely story! Maybe they meant "walking distance to the abandoned houses and liquor shops that littered the streets around the hotel! Oh well, that's traveling for you, and at least we only needed a hotel room to sleep until morning when we would hit the road as soon as we were rested, clean, and fed! As you can see from this blog entry picture, Noah spent the night sprawled out on the huge king size bed! I however, barely slept a wink.

Mama Thann Bed fit for King Noah! (Your motel reminds me of the motel we took Baby Jason to when we first arrived in Oakland. When the clerk saw us, he said it was "wonderful to have a family checking in." There was a round bed in the room and a mirror mounted on the ceiling!
Jess Clark Awesome! Both of your stories remind me of the hotel my parents picked for the night we moved to Marin... Lots of "couples" checking in & out (on an hourly basis) all night long :-)
