After a delicious breakfast and saying goodbye to our wonderful new friends, we were off to Berlin!
We checked into our hotel, then we had to take a trip to the US embassy to find out what it'll take to get a new passport. Unfortunately, Easter weekend happens to be the WORST time to lose something, since everything is closed Thursday through Tuesday. And yes, our stuff was stolen Thursday. But not to worry, there's plenty of things to keep us busy in Germany for a couple of days :)
After mastering the Berlin underground train system, we made it to one of the most historical areas of the city, with the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, the Holocaust Memorial, and so much more. Also, when the wall came down, in part of the city there are now two cobblestone rows tracing where the wall used to be. The amount of incredibly recent history that's taken place in this city is mind boggling. Especially because now, there are carnivals on the street and the city is so dynamic, it makes it hard to think about what it was like just 25 years ago.
Anyways! We explored for hours, then settled into our adorable hotel and got some sleep for a big day tomorrow!
