Bonjour! Bon voyage! Au revoir! Au contraire! Merci beaucoup! It was kinda fun to actually be able to use fun French phrases today.... Even though that pretty much covers all the ones I know. And some of the French weren't too happy with that... Anyways.... We made it work.
It was a perfectly perfect day. 75 and sunny. We did our usual thing and caught an open-top tour bus to get an overview of the city. This took us everywhere, including to the very top of the city where there is a beautiful giant church, Notre-Dame de la Garde. There were also some cool old forts, and a GORGEOUS view of the Mediterranean.
We grabbed some coffee and French pastries, and walked around the old port, strolling through the market and looking at the hundreds and hundreds of fancy sailboats. Dad was obsessed. After walking a bit more, we grabbed a bus to one of the two beaches in the city. It was packed full of beautiful people and cute kids. My new favorite thing is hearing little kids speak french, it's the most adorable thing in existence.
Of course I packed my swimsuit in my purse just in case I stumbled on some water, so I changed and jumped into the freeeeezing cold Mediterranean water. Ahhh.... Worth it! It was so nice out, dad even zipped off his pant legs!! We snoozed on the beach for a while. I love it.
We walked back toward the old port, and on the way, stumbled on what has to be the Happiest Place On Earth park. It was straight out of a fairy tale. Bright green grassy hills above the city, children running, puppies chasing, everyone was laughing and smiling, it was amazing. There was even a group of friends making some sort of music video set to Pharrell's song 'Happy.'
After forcing ourselves to leave, we had some tasty food and a bottle of wine by the old port. We went to bed early since we will be up around 430am to make our way to España!!
