Hi!
I guess that by the time most people read this we'll be back at home anyway, just thought I'd fill in the last few days of our trip and wrap it all up!
From where Lisa last left off we were still in Cairns, and since the weather was not as good as we'd hoped we took part in a few 'activities'. Firstly we booked a hot air balloon ride & white water rafting, then we decided to go quad biking. The hot air ballooning was a good experience & we saw some nice views, but we didn't get to see the sunrise (too cloudy)-which was kind of the point of us going up in a balloon at about 5am. Probably the most eventful part was that Lisa was sick on the coach because of the windy roads up to where we took off! The white water rafting was one of the best things I've done since weve been away. I was a bit concerned at first since my swimming isn't too great, but once you get used to relying on the life jacket its good fun. Although I still managed to have a couple of dodgy moments, Lisa thinking I had drowned & the other being rescued from a spluttering/choking fit by a guy named 'Slugger'!
The quad biking was really my idea, and I had to persuade Lisa to go. This time it was Lsa's turn to nearly perish! After we had already both fallen off our bikes, (with Lisa being inches from braking my leg!) Lisa lost control of her bike and crashed into a tree! Unfortunately there were a few tears and she ended up spending the rest of the ride sitting on the back of guide's bike(!). We were both suffering the next couple of days though, I didnt realise you had to be physically fit to ride these bikes-I was struggling to walk afterwards!
We did get a couple of days of sun where we just relaxed near the lagoon, trying to get that ever elusive tan-short of a tanning booth now we have no chance!
Since we arrived back in Sydney weve been staying in the Kings Cross area. It's much more central than where we were before, and although it's clearly quite dodgy it is still pretty cool. Done a few more touristy bit, walked the harbour bridge, went to the fish market etc, and now were sitting here waiting for the bus to the airport! Where has all the time gone!
We definately would do this again someday, and probably for at least six months-3 is no where near enough. There's loads of places now that we would like to go again, and new places that from talking to people we want to go to-better start saving when we get back!
We will see everyone very soon!
Chris & Lisa
