New York, New York!! Laura's American Adventure...
Well we have made it to our last stop of our trip! We are in our hostel in Los Angeles. We had an absolutely amazing day at Disneyland in Anaheim yesterday!! We arrived down there on Sunday afternoon and after checking into our sleazy motel... (It wasn't really that bad) we went for a walk down to Disney. It was only a 5 minute walk away and got us really excited for Monday! We got to go into Downtown Disney, where all the shops and restaurants are, so we looked around there for the rest of the day trying not to buy lots of cheesy Disney merchandise! We got our tickets for the next day and went back to the motel where we ordered in a nice Chinese takeaway and watched some TV. We were up bright and early the next morning ready to get to the front of the queues for Disney! We spent all day there from 9.30am til 8pm when it closed and then til about 9.30pm back in Downtown Disney for dinner. It was such a good day! We lined up to meet all the characters with all the kids, I had my photo taken with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Hercules (YUM!!! he he!). We went on as many rides as we could though it's hard to fit everything in in one day! We missed out most of the little kiddy ones and went for the big ones instead! My favourites were Space Mountain, The Tower of Terror and the new Pirates of the Carribean. We also got soaked on the water rapids and Charlie made me go on It's a Small World... Can't get that song out of my head!!! It was a great idea to go on a monday because it wasn't very busy at all and our longest queue for a ride was 30 mins, most being about 10 mins! We had a park-hopper ticket so also spent a couple of hours in California Adventure across the road too. There were parades in both parks, The Block Party Bash in California Adventure with all the more modern Pixar characters like Toy Story and Monsters Inc, etc, and The Parade of Dreams in Disneyland with all the princesses and Mickey and co. They were amazing! I want to be in the parade!!! So after a brilliant day we had a nice mexican meal (again!) They're right, it's pretty good out here! Then we went and crashed out in the motel.
Today we got the train back up to LA and have had quite a strange and good day so far! When we got off the train we had to get a bus to the hostel, when we got on one we were told it's the wrong direction and to get off and get one back the other way. On this bus there was an old guy who looked abit like Meatloaf and he was dressed in a bright yellow suit, a crazy shirt and gold shoes. He started talking to us about being from England, etc and then was helpful in telling us where to go when we got off the bus. Anyway, he stayed on the bus and we got off. Next thing we know we are waiting at the other bus stop and this meatloaf guy comes running back down the road towards us.... He had got off his bus particularly to come back and see us. At this point he hands us a $100 bill and says you girls should be careful around here, get yourselves a cab to your hostel and treat yourselves to dinner tonight!! Obviously we were a little shocked and told him we couldn't etc etc but he wouldn't take it back! He said he was some famous English guys manager at one point or something!? So by now we're completely amazed at what has just happened and wondering what the catch is or if we're being filmed and it's all a joke!? So we waited for a cab, meanwhile meatloaf is over the other side of the road and he waves us a cab down and sends it over to us while he gets back on the bus and rides off into the distance! The cab got us to the hostel safely and we are still in major confusion about why this guy would give us $100!!!
After we settled in we went for a walk down Hollywood Blvd (our hostel is just off there), we saw all the stars names on the pavement and saw Manns Chinese Theatre where they hold all the premieres. They were setting up for the premiere of Jessica Simpsons new film 'Employee of the Month' tonight. We got talking to one of the security guys while we were peering over the railings looking at the stars handprints and we casually joked about him getting us VIP tickets for tonight. Unfortunately he said we can't go to the premiere BUT if we want we could probably go to the aftershow party!!! He gave us his number to call after the premiere tonight. We are a little suspicious that he's lying but we're going to go down there anyway just incase... who knows, we could be partying with Jessica Simpson and pals this evening!?? I'll update you on that one tomorrow!
There is an open mic night here at the hostel tonight (which is really cool by the way!!) so we're gonna stop here for a while before we go out. Oh, we saw the Hollywood sign earlier too - alot smaller than I imagined!!
Plans for the last few days are to do some sight seeing tomorrow, go to Rodeo Drive and pretend we're in Pretty Woman! Then to Venice Beach on Thursday, apparently you have to go just to watch all the weird and wacky people around there. Not long left now but enjoying every moment!
See you all soon!
Love Laura xxx
