Another attractive building and, it must be said, and Germany to its credit is full of them. Perhaps in Britain, we value such things less, which is perhaps why we have generally been slightly unconcerned that so many buildings of note in Britain have been allowed to decay or have been actively replaced with various modernistic monstrosities. My home town of Birmingham is full of such examples, and, for once, I agree with Prince Charles who thought the new Birmingham Library (as it was then) looked more like a book incineration plant than a book repository. Mind you, by the same token, alongside these very nice buildings, this trip has seen some other types of building whose purpose was nothing to do with aesthetics and everything to do with incineration.
