If I was a TV producer who needed a commentary the situation in Greece right now, I wouldn't immediately think "We need Peston". However, the increasingly eccentric Peston may be precisely the right man for the job, because really, nothing makes sense concerning Greece and maybe his madcap take on it will be as brilliantly insightful as anyone's . We don't know how much the Greeks owe the IMF or the EU Bank. We don't know why their people think they should be let off the debt, or why them voting one way or the other may put them in a stronger or weaker position. Surely, if they stay in the EU, they will want more money, and surely, there's simply no chance they will be better placed to pay stuff back anyway. Surely, its all a shambles. Once the Greeks were so smart they actually invented thinking. However, they clearly gave up on that ages ago because its now all mad and bonkers. Stop thinking and start borrowing, they thought. The answer, surely, is Robert Peston; he's so earnest, he must somehow understand it all. I mean, look at him. Surely?
