At the cemetery at Tyne Cot, near Ypres, nearly 12,000 names are listed. You look at the names, and you read some of them. You note the neatness of the engraving, the organisation of the wall tablets and you feel it just goes on and on and on. Their names are "normal", like a form list. Barker, Baker, Adcock. Some have two initials - some smiling parent thought "Yes, we'll call him George Edward" never realising their choice would one day be immortalised on some wall in France, along side 12,000 other choices, for reasons they could never have imagined in their worst nightmare.
