We live in a semi rural location, but that's all changing. 3,500 houses are being built around us on green field land. Actually I'm rather ambivalent to that sort of thing since the place we really inhabit is somewhere in our minds. Even the whole universe as I perceive it, is nowhere other than in my mind (and I’d like to hear anyone trying to prove otherwise). Anyway, here's the foundations being excavated for a few more of the new dwellings around us. Archaeologists tell us that the earliest foundations were nothing more than a squarish hole, dug deep into the ground, providing a solid pit into which the walls of the building were imbedded, thus providing greater strength. One of the few decent bits of useful advice the bible tells us is the folly of houses built on a foundations of sand – it predicts they will fall down. I think had the bible simply concentrated on its obviously successful role as a builder’s manual, humanity would likely be a lot better off today. Let's face it, Jesus, never even talked about the dovetail joint, which I think he must have known quite a bit about and which would have helped a lot of people in making their own cabinets and so on.
