I must admit, I have little to say in this blog, but I feel that it is required for completeness sake. It would afterall be nice to blog from each of the locations I happen to travel to!
I have now begun my travelling for the next two months. My first stop was to meet up with Dan and Stephen in wonderful Zhangye, Gansu province, before we head down to Xi'an. After having spent 2 and a half days here, we are leaving tomorrow at 4 in the morning. In other words, as the journey is only 15 hours tomorrow (it was 22 to get here from Kuitun), we will be there by the end of the day!
As for what i've been doing in Zhangye, we haven't been up to too much, but it's been nice nonetheless. On the first day, the guys still had a few lessons to teach, so I sat in on a 3rd grade and a 7th grade class at their school. Zhangye railway town school is rather different from my school back in Xinjiang, but being limited for time, I can't really write why. In short, they teach a wider range of grades and the attitude of the teachers is very different.
We've spent the rest of the time generally just chilling a bit. We had a night out in Zhangye centre town (which happens to feel larger than Kuitun, even if it isn't) and went shopping for a few travel essentials. Zhangye does feel considerably more stereotypically 'Chinese' that Kuitun, with a few traditional buildings dotted about, and a much busier feel to the place in general. No matter however, we have better food over in Xinjiang! (not that Gansu food is not amazing in it's own right however).
I must finish writing now - Stephen needs his laptop back. I covered mostly everything there was to say anyway! Until next time I can write!
