Patna, while being on the way to Nepal, was of special significance. Lucy's great Aunt was a missionary who worked for 15 years here in a school. Sadly, that has since closed, but we were able to find the church that the remaining building has now been transformed into. While there we were privileged to meet a few people who could remember Edith, something we had been hoping for.
After popping in there we walked down the road to a scout hut and wandered in. There we met the Bihar state commissioner for girl guides who showed us a few of the Indian guiding traditions. Once again, we felt spoilt by the hospitality shown, with tea and cake brought out as if our arrival had been expected.
We didn't get to see much more of the city, as it was really very busy and hard to get around. The noise of car horns was so extreme that we took to wearing ear plugs when going outside. It was also difficult to walk about without feeling on show, as we were constantly being watched and photographed, tourists being an oddity here. Even a bird of prey (probably a black kite) was unfamiliar with Lucy's blonde hair and tried to land on her.
