30th December We headed to the bus station around 8pm the night before & were relieved to find our tickets were all in order & by 9pm were on a very nice bus heading to South Bolivia. 28th December we were both in a apprehensive mood for our early morning bus to La Paz, Bolivia, after our previous bus related hassles. The Bolivian border is quite a dodgy crossing, especially by land. Later that day we would hear a tale of a bus boarded 2 days before by Bolivian border police who forced three Czech Republicans to pay $100 each for a visa that is free to all nationalities. 26th DecemberI was somewhat sad to be leaving Cusco behind. The little city had been our starting point for The Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu and the gateway to our trip to the Amazon. 20th December Amazon time!! We left our hostel for a few days to venture into the Peruvian Amazon basin. 13th December We were up by 5:30am, all the hiking would start stupid early. We left the hostel and it's comfy beds, proper toilets and hot water behind.
