NZ day 15
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
Well, it was bound to happen.
We had the worst day today
Rain, clouds, wind, cold, it was just a s*** day.
We woke up in Te Anau, and set our course South to Invercargill. The southern most city in NZ (I believe) We rode thru just the worst wind and just gray skies, but made it to Invercargill where we chilled out in a small cafe for lunch. I must add that NZ has THE most awesome meat pies here. I think its a very british kind of food. But we realy need to get them in the states. I love mince pie!! YUM!
So, as we were going to ride east and up the coast towards Dunedin. Well....the second we got on the bike, it started raining, and then of course POURING! thankfully it only lasted about an hour, but, that hour blew!
To make matters worse. We had our sights set on a few cool places to go sightseeing. First off was supposed to be this cool beach called curio bay with 160 illion year old petrified forrest....we saw nothing. Bummer!
2nd off was the Cathedral caves..... we found it alright. We found it CLOSED!!! WTF?!?
3rd was going to be Purakaunui Falls. We never saw that either
lastly was Kaka Point, and a chance to see this epic lighthouse on nugget point. Once again....Not there.
So, we had no luck at anything this day. I suppose it happens, but man, it really sucks when it does. GRRRR!
So, We land tonight it the town of Dunedin, Seems like a huge college town, and filled with lots of pubs. We found our little guesthouse that housed THE worst bed ever that we've ever slept on, and went out for some great food and tons of beers. NZ does have some great beers here. THANK GOD! so far Speights is our personal fav.
