Had very little to say about Townsville other than it was a scene from 28 days later an apocalyptic movie, expecting half dead zombies to be the only people we would see! At first we thought the city had been evacuated as despite it being a Saturday everywhere was shut and no-one was to be seen! The only place open was Subway and the cinema! So we came halfway around the world for a foot long and Alice in Wonderland in 3D! We are now in Mission Beach, 2 hours so...

Flew back to Sydney to greet a massive thunderstorm....which has lasted for 3 days! Good old Oz weather! Nothing quite like a day on Bondi beach in a monsoon! So as you can imagine our plans have been somewhat disrupted here, it's a good job Sydney has plenty of entertainment i.e. Aquarium and finally got to see Avatar in 3D, the best film ever! Australia is turning out to be extremely expensive, paying the equivalent of a night in the Ritz for an 8 bedded bunk b...

Safely arrived in Auckland and spent two days in Ponsonby, which is a backpackers hive of Auckland. Spent the two days exploring the area and got a ferry from the harbour to an island called Waiheke with rocky bays, beaches and emerald seas. It was a lovely small island. On the second day we got an overnight bus to Wellington (12hrs) and got on the ferry over the Cook Strait (the worlds third roughest sea, but saying that it was a moderate day!) to the South Isla...

20/1/10-24/1/10 Flew from Heathrow to Sydney, flight was fairly smooth and free from any unexpected events! On our 1st day in Sydney we spent a few hours in the sweltering heat trying to find our hotel! We had to give in and hail a taxi....once there we checked in our bags and explored Darling Harbour which is a waterfront with bars etc. We then really felt the jet lag so went back to hotel at 2pm and fell asleep for 14 hours! Woke at 430am feeling very hungry! ...
