Back to Lima for 5 days of R and R after our very busy time in Cuzco, Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca. We went back to the bed and breakfast we had stayed at previously called "Tradiciones" in a suburb of Lima called Miraflores. Our host Angelo made us very welcome again and on the second day took us in his car to a very special seafood restaurant, serving traditional Peruvian food, owned by his son. Angelo ordered for us and the meal was superb.
We also went out to Sunday lunch with a Peruvian couple we had met on the train trip back from Machu Picchu. It was a beautiful and classy seafood restaurant and we left the ordering in the hands of our friends Edwin and Marcella. A traditional entree in Peru is made from raw fish marinated in a type of lime, found only in Peru. It is delicious! Edwin and Marcella took us for a tourist drive around Lima, catching up on the sights that we had so far missed.
We spent the rest of our time attending to matters of posting parcels, laundry, Internet, sorting through our possessions with the view to discarding clothes not required and planning our USA/Canada leg. We also enjoyed many long walks around Miraflores which has lovely gardens and parks, despite the fact that Lima is on a barren plain and rain is such a rarity that the locals say it never rains in Lima.
