Day 3 + 4 kandy land!
We woke up early to catch the train to kandy which is only about 150km north or colombo. Kandy is called the cultural centre of Sri Lanka and there are loads of things to see and do!
We took the bus to the train station which is always an experience, the buses are over crowded and the drivers are really bad but a 30 min bus ride costs less than 10p.. Still more efficient than the UK as one comes along ever minute of 2.
We had been told to get second class and rush onto the train so we could get a seat and luckily we did that as there where people hanging out of the doors! The ride up to Kandy was amazing! Really beautiful views!
We took the rest of the day easy, had a bit of a walk about and then a few beers on the amazing roof top area with some girls from Australier.
Day 4-
We wanted to get down to the coast by the end of the week so crammed in as many touristy things as we could today.
We started with the market and then the Buddha statue on the hill but honestly it was just a tourist trap.
Sri Lanka is well known for hyper inflating the prices on attractions for foreign people, most places are the same as a museum in England £10-£20.
We made an offering of some flowers so hopefully I will have good karma for the rest of my trip!
We met some Swedish girls and went with then to the botanical gardens which were really nice! We saw hundreds of bats and monkeys!!
That night we all went to the cultural show which was dancing and fire walking! Touristy but it was still good!
The whole hostel headed upstairs and we played drinking games and chatted until 4am!! Great night!
