First of all ended up in Penang on the West coast instead of the Perhentians in the East after some confusion with the bus driver who seemed to think we were joking. Turns out Penang is a pretty nice place and quite pleased we ended up here! Sorted out a bus to take us over to the P\'hans- a night bus - always fun. Been to Phuket; not all that many tourists around (just the ones after a thai bride it would seem :/ ) Had to walk miles to get to a bit of beach that wasnt privately owned by some massive hotel chain. Also just getting over my nasty sickness bug, so not all that happy. Koh Phi Phi - a brilliant place - still pretty destroyed by the tsunami, but getting back on its feet, everyone helps out - picking up rubble and rubbish, making a memorial garden that kinda thi...

As you can see decided on popping into Laos over the beaches of Thailand. But this place is pretty chilled and less developed than some of the other countries so thats always nice. Had some rather horrendous journeys here so far: an evil 9 hour boat trip in a overpacked wooden boat with no seats to Nong Kiew. And just the general nastiness of route 13 involving too many bends, armed hijackers and drivers going way too fast. all in all a rather unpleasant combinat...

Spent the last few days trekking in the highlands - went on an elephant, and bamboo rafted down a river - had an awesome time. Now trying to decide whether to head into Laos or down to the beaches - its a tough call... By the way, ended up leaving Cambodia early as the thai border closed due to buddist new year so had to leave or be trapt in siem reap for 2 weeks. Greetings from Sweaty Saigon! Have travelled down the coast to the capital stopping off in some rather delightful places along the way! Left Nha Trang (the beach) after getting sunburnt :/ took 13hrs on the bus to get here. It\'s back to the busy-ness of Hanoi - altho possibly worse - more motorbikes! Going to the Cu Chi tunnels tomorrow, which should be good. Looking to travel by boat into Cambodia in a few days time. Hope all\'s well with you xxx
