Wed 11th Mar - Flew back to the UK from Guatemala City via Bogota.

Thurs 12th Mar - Unpacking, washing, getting things ready for our trip to the Philippines next weekend. First shock of how the coronavirus is impacting the UK with our first supermarket shop with empty shelves.

Fri 13th Mar - Found out devastating news that due to the increasing severity of Covid-19, the Philippines have now introduced a travel ban, 2 of our internal flights have been cancelled, so we're not going to be able to get there next weekend.

Sat 14th Mar - Still in shock, and desperately trying to quickly make new plans to see where else we could go. Considered other Central America countries, but almost as soon as we think of somewhere and start investigating flights, new announcements come out that they are also locked down.
Starting the process of trying to get refunds on flights and accommodation and tours we had pre-booked.

Sun 15th Mar - Fewer and fewer options available for anywhere to go. Narrowed down to Bali, looked at flights, quite close to booking, then again new announcements locking that down as well. Well, thats it now. Time to admit defeat, realise that this is now huge, out of our control, and is going to affect everything - not just travel plans.

Mon 16th - Mon 23rd Mar
Spent time in Devon with my family, watching the situation get worse by the day. Supermarkets ridiculously busy with shortages of toilet roll, hand gel, tinned goods, eggs, etc etc.
Announcement that everyone that can work from home should from now on.
Schools closed on Fri 20th, along with all pubs, restaurants, theatres, cinemas, hotels, gyms, everything.
Hard to comprehend how this has just blown up in just over a week, and how its going to affect everyone and everything for the foreseeable future.
Philippines is now almost a distant thought as we try to comprehend what impact this is going to have on the rest of the year. Fingers crossed our families and friends get through unscathed, and things return to whatever normal will be as soon as possible when this is over. Time to spend time with them enjoying their company and helping out in this unprecedented situation.
