I don't think I've mentioned the amazing breads we have been eating on this trip. France and Spain always have fresh baking around every corner.
Anneke went out early both mornings and brought home fresh bread & croissants. Her daughter came over with her kids, and we visited during breakfast.
Hearing sheep bells, we went outside to watch the flock leave for the day. Our bags were packed, and we said our goodbyes.
The drive was short, 2.5 hours to our campsite. Villa Nova I la Geltru is a beautiful campground with palm trees, flowering shrubs, and beautiful pools. The air was humid. We could smell the sea nearby, and the soft scent of flowers.
Our camp trailer was at the end of a row, leaving our deck with a view of pine trees and the ocean in the distance. The kids went straight to the pool. Tim and I sat by the pool and ordered tapas. They had the best oysters in white wine and garlic sauce!
For the evening we went to a beach in
I la Geltru. The sand was golden and incredibly soft. The water was a deep blue and we could see gold sparkles in the sand through the water, it looked like fools gold. The beach was shallow, staying waist high for about a kilometer out. The kids loved that. Darius thought the waves were awesome. Belia couldn't wait to build a sand castle, and wasn't impressed when we said we would make one the next day. Fisherman were casting off from a peer where a large statue stood. We walked over for a closer look. The statue looked like a bull from far off because of the long horns, but close up it turned out to be a cow with a beautiful women inside. I'm not sure of the story behind it. One of the fishermen called us closer to have a look at what they were catching. Short round fish, probably the perfect fit for a large frying pan.
We stopped at the grocery store on the way home. A large grocery store, comparable to superstore. The one thing that stood out to us was the hunks of meat hanging - they looked like pork drum sticks. Many people had them in their carts so they must be a staple around here.
We stopped at McDonalds for their reliable wifi. So far the resorts past Paris haven't had strong wifi signals.
We were looking forward to our beach day coming up and went to bed.
