Our day was mostly spent in the car driving to the Bordeaux region. It was a 6 hour road trip. The kids passed the time by playing cards, listening to their iPods, playing games on their iPods, sleeping and checking out the scenery.
The landscape was different than we expected; very flat with large pine forests. The pines were bare for the bottom three quarters with a puffy pine top. The ground cover was thick with ferns. It reminded us of a place that dinosaurs would roam. Our campground was in this forest and next to a lake. We could tell it had been raining a lot in the area because the ditches were full of water, many of the campsites were flooded out, and our Keycamp hostess was moved to higher ground because her tent got wet. The sand part of the beach was also under water. We dried off our deck chairs and table and prepared supper. Ground beef on a stick, potatoes and salad were on the menu, it was a tasty meal. Tim and the older 3 played cards and Belia and I called it a night.
