After a 15 hour overnight bus ride down from Airlie Beach we arrived into Rainbow Beach at 9:40am. We checked into our hostel which was conveniently across the road from the Greyhound bus stop! We then went for a little walk around the town which is rather small. We then spent a large amount of time in the travel agents using there free Internet to sort out our photos and book some hostels and stuff like that. At 3:30pm our hostel did a free bush walk up to the Carlos Sandblow. The walk was all uphill and we got cramp in our calves! We then went through the bush and came out onto this MASSIVE sand dune! There was just sand everywhere! We walked along it and climbed up a really steep bit where we took it in turns to jump on a body board and "sand board" down the dune on our bellies! It was so much fun. Mel was hilarious as she screamed the whole way down! We then walked around the dune and up onto another part where the guy showed us Fraser Island. It was pretty cool to be able to see where we're going tomorrow and it crazy how close it is to the mainland. We took a group photo and then walked back to where we started and watched the sunset. It was beautiful! The colours in the sky and over the dune were really pretty! Before heading back to the hostel we had a go at throwing a boomerang! The guy from the hostel managed to throw it and catch it on return. Most of us were able to get it to turn around but it didn't come close enough to us to catch it. A couple of the boys were close though. Then some people threw it and it went straight into the sand! It was a really nice evening and we met some nice people that were staying at the hostel. A good laugh!
