Xtra Long is Xtra Small
KL-Perth RM 480 (one way)..value
Any one who used to wonder how closely connected Air Asia was to Virgin Airlines would realise after boarding the Air Asia X flights. Tony who used to work with Virgin records; once his boss, Richard Branson is now his partner in Air Asia X. But how much of the Virgin soul is engrained in our home grown Asia's leading budget airlines? Some obvious notes, look at the logo style, color scheme, advert campaigns, etc. There is a lot to be said in the model that Air Asia is adopting.
My latest discovery as of yesterday was the seat styling. The normal AK flights have bigger seats then the Air Asia X ones. Why? Why would shorter flights have more comfortable seats compared to the long distance ones? Is it cause its two diff companies (Air Asia Bhd & Air Asia X Sdn Bhd)?
The flights are spanking new Boeing's. Awesome ! but when u step foot into the flight u nnotice something peculiar, why do the seats seem like a mini version what u would normally see? Then u sit down and u confirm it. Try reclining ur seat, unlike normal seas this does not recline backwards. Instead the back is fixed however the bottom slides forward. Well it saves space, but guess what it means that when u want to sleep, ur legs will be pressed into the front passengers seat. Well people who are over 5'9 may find this a problem. But if u sit in the aisle seast u may get away withsome extra room by sticking ur legs into the walk path. If ur tall, and stuck in the middlle, ur doomed.
Been told that all Air Asia flights in and out of OZ are full. Fortunately for me mine was a light flight. Hence i has a whole row to myself to curl up for a few hours.
Well complain complain complain.. yes.. but these revolutianary airlines have enabled so many more of us to fly so much more often. What is a 5 hour cramped flight, its like sitting in a bus. Never done that before? Well if u havent then u probably have never been on a budget in ur life any ways, s why would u need a budget airline now. But for the rest f us, its an awesome deal. The reason u buy a flight ticket is cause u wanted to get to the destination of your choice. Air Asia does just that.
A return ticket from Malaysia to Perth which used to cost RM 3000, is now only RM1300. Still wanna complain ;) Guess if you dont mind an additional RM1700 for extra 3inches of leg room and a sub standard mini meal which u infact paid for, then full fare airlines are the way to go. For the rest of us, budget airlines have been a blessing.
