Greetings from Vietnam! We are writing this card from the tranquille small town of Hoi An half way between Hanoi in the North and Ho Chi Minh City in the South! Having experienced some torrential monsoons we are pleased to find sunnier weather and temperatures reaching 30 degrees... I'm sure this makes you feel extremely jealous and envious, haha!! Our trip from Beijing went well and we had our first contact with the Vietnamese population as soon as we boarded our train... Within the hour our "room/cabin-mate" had decided to give us a feast made up of raw onions and beef drowned in chilies! Followed by the now infamous Viet Vodka (the Mongolian version sounds like a joke with hindsight). The party ended a few hours later with our host passed out on the floor with Abba music playing in the background! Once in Vietnam we settled in our hotel, visited the sight and splashed out on a cruise in Halong Bay - a must if any of you ever decide to come to Vietnam. The scenery was spectacular viewed from our sea kayaks with islands made up of steep hills and small floating villages. Enjoy work! Take care, M & K x x x
