Hello all, sending you lots of love from a sweaty internet cafe at the beautiful Mission Beach! Internet is so expensive here (just like everything else), so this will only be a quicky. I'm also booking hostels whilst doing this, multi tasking, so if it is a little disjointed, I apologise.
So! Had good flights here, they were loooong and I lost all track of time, but I arrived safe and sound to Cairns. Watched the kids channel on the way here, squeezing as many Disney films into my flight as possible!
Got here and set up my bank account, bought an Australian phone- I'm practically Australian now. haha. Spent a couple of days getting over the jet lag and getting used to not being with my lovely Tucan Group (miss you!). On one of the nights myself and some friends from the hostel went to Gilligans, the big party hostel, and watched jelly wrestling. Horrendous. Those girls must have been incredibly drunk to agree to do it. Haha.
Towards the end of my week in Cairns we went snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef. It was AWESOME. The reef itself was not as bright as I thought it would be, but the fish were beautiful. Loads of different types and so brightly coloured. One type of fish was MASSIVE. I reckon it was probably half the size of me, with a huge mouth. And we also saw a turtle and were swimming right next to him- we were very lucky.
The day after that we hired a car and I drove to all the way up the coast to Cape Tribulation and the Daintree Rainforest- such a beautiful area of the world. Absolutely gorgeous. We paddled in a fresh water hole, swam in a gorge and took pictures on the beach up there- really beautiful place.
On the way to Mission beach leaving Cairns I travelled on the Oz Experience bus and we visited the Athelon Tablelands-watching turtles in lakes and swimming in waterfalls (where Peter Andre shot Mysterious Girl LOL). Lovely.
Mission Beach has included swimming in the sea (so warm, like a bath!), drinking at cafes, hanging out at the lovely hostel, holding baby wallabies lizards, and campfires on the beach.
I am in such a beautiful place in the world. It is truly gorgeous. Missing you all, think of you often, but the sun is shining (it's 34 degrees today ) and all is well :)
Loads and loads of love xxxxxxxxxxx
p.s. the Christmas trees and tinsel here looks so odd.
