I flew from Belfast to Manchester this afternoon then a train to Bolton and Mom's friend Grace sent a taxi for me. Mom and Grace worked together in the Scottish Gas Board (in Edinburgh) in 1959 and have kept in touch ever since. Grace was very kind and I had a place to stay for a couple of days. We were up talking until after midnight. (July 31) Bury, Lanceshire album
Grace and I went to the "Famous Bury Markets". The most famous markets in the UK. My question is who does the judging of all these "most famous" sites. We went for dinner with Grace's family. Chris, Lesley, Mirrin Judith, Courtney and Billy. Real fish and chips at a very flash fish and chip shop in Bury. The loo's (toilets) were voted the best in Britain by a supplier of bathroom products and I have to say the ladies was very nice. Sorry no photo's for this one. We all went back to Judith's for a glass of wine or two or three. Let just say we all had a sleep in the next morning. The kids got out the karaoke machine and we all had a go with various music but the best by far was our renditions of various ABBA songs. (Aug 1) Bury, Lanceshire album
Today was another travel day. Off to Edinburgh for one night before heading to Archiestown. Tomorrow I am going back to Mom's hometown for a visit. The bonus is that this area has a number of distilleries very close by. I will be back to Edinburgh on Wednesday before flying to Denmark on Friday. Edinburgh is getting ready for the annual Edinburgh Tattoo and the place is hopping right now. The Fringe Festival starts this weeks and the actual Tattoo starts on Thursday the 6th of August. It will be worth to plan a trip back one year to attend the Tattoo and the other festivals that go on at the same time. (Aug 2) Edinburgh album - to be posted soon
Nice weather finally.
I miss you all. Take care and be good.
