That's it. We've done it. Our first batch of flights are booked and there's no turning back. Hurrah! This time next year we'll be the furthest away from home we've ever been - in sweet-as New Zealand. We'll get there via India, South East Asia and East Coast Oz. And -all going to plan - a hop, skip and a jump across South America will then lead us back home to reality in Twickenham, London.
Both of us have rarely stepped foot outside Europe, so it's a bit daunting to say the least. We probably should be following suit of most of our friends and investing our hard earned cash into something more sensible, like a house deposit, or pensions (yikes) - but quite frankly that sounds scarier than travelling through the night on an overcrowded Indian train with cockroaches, snakes, and long-drop toilets. It's all very exciting but there's so much to do. Not the typical, 'let's just go and see what happens' travellers, we're already drawing up spreadsheets of must-see places (finally my crazy collection of travel books are coming in to play) and budgets. There's even talk of laminating copies of our schedule (no joke).
We'll post blogs as we prepare for the trip, so feel free to stop by once in a while to see what we're up to! And, if you're a fellow traveller with experiences of any of our planned destinations, please do get in touch to share them!
Until next time...
Nat and Bret
