We then bussed over to part of the 'slums' of Soweto where we walked through the streets down to Pam's crèche. We met the 4-5 year olds who gave us a little performance and we sang for them as well. They were all super cute.
We went over to a giant mall for lunch, where the best option was Nando's. Sean, Cosette and I got a table together, and we even ordered wine to go with the chicken because ... $2! We did have to rush back to the bus though, because we were low on time.
We had to go back to the hotel to change into our choir uniforms, then right back on the bus to go to our rehearsal and concert. We had a short rehearsal by ourselves, the. The university of Johannesburg joined us to practice a few pieces together (I had to sing a duet solo for one of them). Before he concert, we went across to steer to a community centre where we had soup with the other choir.
Then the concert. It was lovely. The UJ choir sounded amazing. Our first listen to real African music. We ended up singing a lot, but the choir was really receptive and loved quite a few things we sang. Sang a couple joint pieces together.
After saying goodbye, we went back to the hotel to make a really quick change into normal clothes, then off to a really late supper.
