Woke up early and packed everything up - including mask, snorkel and fins. Went to breakfast buffet, took some gravol and waited for the bus for our tour. Mum had to run to get the towels that opened at 8am. Bus came at 8:05. Packed on for a short 20min drive to the marina. Got ticket things, then got on the boat.
We could see the sea pen from the shore, but it took forever to get out there. When we finally arrived, we put on all our gear - advanced swimmers got to go out to see coral, beginners straight to the sea pen. So we hopped into the water. Zach still had trouble with his mask. We swam around outside then pen. Some interesting things, but nothing spectacular.
There was a cute black and electric blue fish and some pretty purple coral. Swam around for a bit (Zach saw a box fish) and finally went into the 'Marinarium'. Then pen we went in, there were some cute fish, and then we saw some big sting rays on the bottom. And then, out of nowhere, giant nurse sharks. Way bigger than I expected, and three of them. Just swimming along the bottom. I tried to follow them around a bit, but they swim pretty fast.
Then we went into the next pen. Not much there, except a platform where they had a ray up and were letting people hold it. Oh my goodness, it wasn't at all like I thought. It was really squishy and slimy, but not. Super cool, at the very least. Then we swam slowly back to the boat. Finally got back on, poor Zach wasn't feeling that great. He said it was from vertigo from watching the current underwater.
From there is was a slow boat ride beside the shore. Beautiful water, beautiful beaches. Looked like a beautiful calm stretch of beach that would be nice to walk on. Saw a horseback rider too. They took to a shallow water pool in the middle of the bay, but not before giving us the best coco loco ever.
Zach was kinda feeling better, so he came down into the water with us. My dad stayed on board because he'd done something to his knee. I also ate some great pineapple and coconut. They gave us drinks in the water which was cool. It was supposed to be waist deep, but it was a bit deeper than that. Zach perked up a bit. Threw the football a couple times.
The bay was pretty, and it was neat to be able to stand in the middle. Then another slow ride back to shore. Picked up a photo album and shot glass from the souvenir shop. Bus ride back. Had lunch at the buffet and Zach was feeling better. Rode down to the beach and managed to find really good spots by the bar and near the ocean. Went jumping in the waves for quite a while with my mum, and then Zach joined.
Swim in the pool with a drink after to rise off the salt. Then back to the room to have a shower (really needed to wash my hair) and have a quick nap. Drinks in the lounge beforehand like usual. Then a bit of a walk to try and find where our supper place was. Dominican food. Super tasty. Probably the best meal so far. Meat and veg soup was great. I had shrimp, Zach had fish, mum had goat. Great supper. Back to bed.
