So, the weekend just gone I spent in the Whitsundays with Kat and Zoe (two of the english doctors at the hospital). It was great, we got there on saturday and just spent the afternoon sat on the beach and watching the sunset.
In the evening we all went out and met up with Kate and Ben, aussie docs and had a meal at Cactus jacks and then went out for a few cocktails and drinks. OK, a few may be an understatement, lol only joking!!! But we did have a good night, even when we tried to go swimming in the pool that night at the hotel but it was locked! I guess there used to peeple wandering back tipsey and trying to use the pool!!!!
So sunday was a great day. We got up bright and early at half six and on the bus at 7.10 to abel point marina where the Camira boat was waiting for us. This would sail us around the islands of the Whitsundays including Day dream island were Celebrity love island was filmed. We got off on Whitehaven beach were the sand is really white and fine and the water was clear blue. We had a bbq on the boat and then continued on sailing to the point were we would go snorkelling in the great barrier reef. Trust me it is no fun trying to squeeze into a wetsuit with a heavy head from the night before and 34 degress heat. But when we were in the water it was definately worth it. There were hundreds of colourful fish and coral. There were some that looked like zebras and leopards and lots of other bright colours. Don't worry Lily there were no jellyfish!!!!
Monday, tuesday and wednesday this week I have been in induction and it is very different from the way im used to nursing back home. Some of the equipment is the same but they have some odd ideas on patient care so it's going to take some getting used to.
We've also found a car now which is good because Mackay is so spread out it takes like an hour to walk anywhere. We are both off the begining of next week so we may fly down to Brisbane and go to Steve Irvin's zoe if we can
