We arrived in Singapore on Monday evening, after a long flight we went and had our first traditional Asian meal in Chinatown. I would like to thank Mike for the gift he left in Tony’s bag, gave us lots of laughs at the airport and through security!
We only had 1 day in Singapore so we got up and early and began to explore. We visited Marina Bay, the famous shopping street ‘Orchard Road’ which was amazing. So any shops (Topshop and New Look I must add) they had all the Christmas decorations up and Christmas music playing on the streets so it was very magical and got me in the Christmas spirit. Tony bought me some FIT flops for my early Christmas gift, they are the flip flops that tone and exercise your bum and thighs whilst you walk and they are better for you than standard flip-flops as they improve posture and counteract any back pain. Anyhow, they are super comfortable but kept cutting my into my toes so I have horrible flip flop wounds now!!
We checked out Boat Quey, Little India, Arab Street, Chinatown, and spent the rainy part of the afternoon in the famous Raffles hotel, where we had our Singapore Sling cocktail. We spent the rainy evening in the Irish pub in which Tony had a traditional shepherds pie which came with a layer of cheese – little odd! We then got a cab to collect our bags and went to the train station to catch our over night train to Kuala Lumpur. It was an 8 hour journey and our cabin as you can imagine was very cramped but at least it was private as we paid for a first class deluxe! I didn’t get the best nights sleep as we kept getting woken up by station stops and immigration stops, in which I got pulled over for not looking like my passport picture.
