I left India!! It was really difficult as well. I got so attached to that place and was loving going to Osho but I made it out here to Sri Lanka.
I'm never going to forget my time in India, it's driven me insane on more than one occassion but I bar a few bad days I really loved my time there. I promised myself I'll go back to Pune and see my class and go Osho again sometime. It sucked loads having to say goodbye to Kim who helped me make my India trip more fantastic then I could have planned and to Pratap and Aish and Jacqueline and to all the other friends I've met there. But hey it had to happen!
The drive into Mumbai was amazing, it's about the 5th biggest city in the World I think and there was so much activity everywhere. The noise and the slums all swallowing big luxury apartment buildings. At the airport the A380 double decker plane landed while I was in the plane; so I missed it but there were huge crowds around the airport who were cheering. The flight was pretty trouble free, saw all of Mumbai from the air which was cool. Sri Lanka looked very green and tropical.
I'm in a place called Negombo which has a beach, first time I've seen the sea for ages! Unfortunately the monsoon is starting here so the weather's been pretty bad. I went and had a great big fish for dinner with some Danish guys I met on the plane and it was only about 2 pounds. Negombo is very quiet now. It's both the low season here because of the rains and the war in the North is keeping people away. Today I slept in and then walked along the beach which wasn't that scenic. Then I went into a hotel and somehow ended up playing an Indian board game with all the bar staff and pool attendents. This sort of thing always seems to happen when I wander off to nowhere.
I fly out to Singapore tomorrow about midday. My flight was changed from a night flight to reduce the risk of the Tamil Tigers attacking it. So yikes. It's easy to forget half of Sri Lanka's at war when you're in Negombo, it just looks like a slightly quieter, cleaner India. Lots of people are talking about it and how damaging it's been for the tourism industry - no one's coming! Apart from a couple from Douglas Avenue who checked out of my hotel last week. Very weird.
