I arrived in Ica in the afternoon. It is a rather rough looking town which is remarkable seeing as it nestled between giant sand dunes on one sides and mountains on the other. Unfortunately, it doesn`t quite live up to the surroundings. I was unsure whether to head straight to Huachachina, which is a neighbourhood of Ica tucked in between the sand dunes or to stay in town for the evening, whilst i comtemplated the options i headed to an internet cafe. After an hour or so in the cafe my decision was made for me as the hostel owner of the hostel i had booked into walked into the cafe to find me.
Once checked in i returned to the cafe for a couple of hours and had a walk around town to take in the main plaza. Back at the hostel i had a couple of drinks with the owner (26) and his brother and a couple of their friends came over. Once we had finshed drinking in the hallway we headed to a bar in town for a rather uneventful round of drinks. We stopped off for some food on the way back.
In the morning, after a lie in i decided to get to Huacachina as quickly as possible as my time in this rather unextroadinary town was rather unextroadinary!
