Bula again - and trust me, if you ever come to Fiji all you will ever hear is bula-this and bula-that. It's pretty cool, and it's beter than that look people give to you if you try to speak to them on Oxford Street.
After the cultural rollercoaster of the last few days some serious sun was in order - cue Beachcomber Island. What can I say? It was a very sunny, very small island, with plenty to eat and an 80+ person dorm.
On the second day there a couple of us decided to turn explorers and kayaked accross the sea to Treasure Island, which was a lot more flash than our place. They were good enough to give us a glass of water on arrival, so we decided against pillaging them for their cement mix. Other than this the days were filled with snorkelling, swimming, and general beach-oriented chilling out on Fiji-time.
Back in Nadi and with only a couple of days to go it was time to venture into the markets to do some serious bartering. These guys know what they're doing, so it's good to have some people with you. We found an effective way to do it is to play the old good-cop bad-cop: one person wants the item, the other is trying to dissuade him so the seller has to be a bit more generous. I don't know how effective this really is, but it seemed to work.
Today is the last day in Fiji - tomorrow it's Auckland. All of which means I'll have to come back to dive with the Tiger and Bull Sharks.
