hey guys!
we are now in Brisbane staying at Rachels and simons (really good to have a nice place to stay).
Since our last blog we had some fun at Rainbow beach - we went to see the sunset at Carlo sandblow and on our way back we were meant to walk back to our hostel along the beach so we set off on what looked like the beach but turned into a vertical sand and rock cliff we had to climb, run, fall and roll down! we were pleased with our selves once we made it down alive!
The next day we were up early for our 3 day safari trip to Fraser Island. Our guide called bret picked us up and he was so funny and a typical Aussie guy! we got the short ferry accross to the island and set off driving along the beach to our huge tents where we would drop our stuff off and then head out to Eli creek for a swim where the water is red beacuse off the tea leave trees that are there! then we drove over the sand to a huge shipwreck on the beach, then some more crazy driving from bret over to the other side of the island to Indian head where u can see all over the island and some great views. then it was time to head back to our accomodation where all our group had our aussie bbq and tried Kangaroo and we stayed up drinking on the beach front with our group watching out for dingos that roam the island.
The next day we were up early to set off to to some places to swim in the red water and then we went inland to a secret place called lake berabeen, bret knew about that was beautiful - clear white sands and blue water. where we stayed all afternoon playing volleyball in the water, having lunch and sunbathing. After we had a bush walk thru the jungle in the middle of the island where bret told us all about the animals etc and we saw a monkey swing right next to us!! by this time the sun was setting so time to head back for our tea!
The 3rd day we would set off to dune surfing - a hot walk accross the huge sand dunes and we would get to the lake and the vertical cliff for some sand boarding. Which was great fun. We then had a another long hike back thru jungle to the van where we would head back to the ferry and drop some of the people off in rainbow beach and take the rest of us down to Noosa.
We arrived in noosa around 6pm to our hostel which was a hippy place with small cell rooms and no fans or air con so we had real trouble sleeping beacuse of the heat. The place we were staying was called sunshine beach and was really nice. The properties there are going for $1.5 million!! the next day we caught the free shuttle bus into noosa town and had a look round all shops and decided to go to the cinema for a break! We also bumped into Scott and vicki in noosa who have finnmaly got out of thailand - so we went for a drink with them to catch up on stories with each other. we plan to hopefully meet up with them around new years in sydney when they get there.
Yesterday we got the greyhound bus at 8am down to Brisbane and we arrived at 12 where rachel and simon where waiting to pick us up and take us back to there new place. It was great and we are lucky to be able to stay there for a week! We left our stuff there and we all headed out to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Where we fed Kangaroos and cuddled a koala. altho my koala had seen better days and was slighty fat!! Once we had looked round everything we head onto Mount Coot-ha to see the views all around Brisbane. Next a trip to the butchers to stock up on food for our tea on simons pride and joy his new bbq! The food was great and we sat on the balcony drinking and eating.
Hope everyone ok back home!
