hi
since we last updated you we left Kuta for seminyak for a couple of days - nothing much happened there we just relaxed round the pool. Then we headed up to Ubud, the arts and crafts area. Ubud is a great town with lots of shops and art galleries and museums. However we stayed on monkey forrest road, therefore in the jungle and we didi not like all the bugs everywhere. (massive spider pic arriving soon!).
We spent the first day in ubud barganing with the Balianese in the Ubud market, which was great, you just name your price and walk away and they mostly just accept it!! yesterday we went to the monkey forrest sancutury. There were monkeys everywhere and you just walk amongst them and they just eat banannas next to you. we saw some have a fight and chasing each other all up the trees and playing with each other in the water. i was fascinated with one who was by himself playing with a few little rocks for ages!!
Today we hired a car and a driver to take us round the north side of Bali. We were picked up at 8 and our first stop was the traditional bali rice terraces where we saw them harvesting all the rice and he explained how they farm it. the fields just go on for ever over the horrizon. Next we went to the temple on the lake - which is as it sounds! Then we drove to the Gigit Waterfall and we had to climb for about half an hour to get to it! it was huge looking up at it from the bottom! It was really good to see a waterfall so big! next we stopped at Lavina beach for a snack and to see the black sands. Our last stop was the natural hot springs - where the locals were washing and bathing, so the water was mucky! We then set off on our journey back down the big mountain we had just driven up!
We are trying to upload some pics as we have loads but no where has internet fast enough here to upload them!
