We last left off the day before we left for Delhi, so A LOT has been occurring since then.
On our last day in Patnem, Goa, we had a boat trip booked for the morning. This was a trip northward to a place called butterfly island, on the way we were hoping to catch a glimpse of dolphins! However prior to the departure it was reiterated that we would be extremely lucky to see one!! So I expectations were not high, however for £4 in the sun we were not really bothered. So we were up early with our two new best friends Jane the painter and Lily the Israeli. About 10 minutes into the journey we spotted dolphins!! Exciting stuff... So the rest of the journey we were like human radars scanning the sea in almost silence. We were lucky enough to see 7 or 8 dolphins! They might have been the same one following us but we didn't care! Sun sea and dolphins was a perfect way to finish our Goa acclimatisation period.
We were sad to leave the secret garden and all its basic but friendly amenities, but we were about to travel to Delhi so we were excited and slightly nervous...
The flights were boring
We arrived at Delhi airport only to discover our driver hadn't turned up for the hotel to pick us up. We ended up being coaxed into a meter taxi... Error, but we were so tired we had an excuse. After leaving the airport we soon discovered the taxi driver knew very minimal English and he also didn't know where we were going! So if he was unable to drive he would have been completely useless. So we arrived at our hotel after some confusion and sifting through numerous Blackberry emails. First impression we good, but were suddenly tainted by the state of the shower and the view out the window of what looked like a prostitute having spicy time in between some parked cars. Thoroughly recommend Hotel Ananda to all! This was soon topped off for Tom who arrived to the hotel soon to realise he had to run to the toilet for undisclosed but obvious reasons! Then to discover there had been a Herbal Essences explosion within his rucksack. Not a good day.
