Tom C-B's Travels 2006
Gday from Australia!! Arrived yesterday night to a really cool hostel a quick walk from the city centre with a very trendy bar. We were also offered our complimentary slice of pizza which happens every night apparently!! We met up with Rosie (my auntie) and went out to popular Lygon Street for dinner. Some catch up conversation was had and we arranged to meet up again on Sunday, when we could stay at their house in the Dandenong Ranges, about an hour out of the city itself. With that in mind, we woke up this morning and headed out to explore the city, our first stop being the Victoria Street Markets which, fortunately, sat right behind our hostel. We purchased some fresh fruit and veg, and decided to have kangaroo for dinner, so also purchased one of the biggest steaks I have ever seen!! After the markets we wandered down towards the Yarra river that runs through the city until we found oursleves in Federation Square, where an exciting festival was underway in celebration of 'Buddha Day'. We witnessed some traditional chinese dances and some rather more modern breakdancing displays. With that we headed back to the hostel for steak (I know - Im licking my lips as well!). Well, that's all for now, I'm gonna go cook up a storm in the hostel kitchen!!! Hope everyone's well and not too stressed out about various exams!!!
I'll be back soon...
