Hey you crazy kids! Thought it about time to make another journal entry, just so's you peeps dont worry about us (lol!)
We have moved on a fair bit since Kuala Lumpur. We stayed in Penang for a few days and then moved north into Thailand. Our Thai adventure began on the beautiful island paradise of Koh Samui where we just kinda chilled for a few days. Row got some mega bites on her legs and was well grumpy for a few days cos of the itching. Really, you should have seen the state of her legs, they were really horrible (sorry babe!). Otherwise we didnt really get up to much. The beaches and the resort in Samui were stunning but the place as a whole was a bit overdeveloped.
So we have moved on. You will now find us on another island paradise! We bypassed Koh Phan Ngan to come to Koh Tao, the northern most of the islands off Thailands east coast. It is diving heaven! Since we got here all we have done is dive! I refreshed my skills and have completed an advanced diving course, while Row completed her open water course and is now doing the advanced course (she is in the classroom as we speak!). diving conditions are amazing. This morning we were both diving with biiiig sharks! They are so beautiful and not at all threatening. I think its time for some r 'n' r now though. Ive been going for 4 days solid and am thoroughly fooked (I know, what a hard life eh?!) so its time to chill. But I'll be back on a night dive with Row tomorrow so its all good!
A couple of minor incidents to report! I got stung by a sea urchin on a night dive. Sh!t it hurt. Its kinda like a bee sting but i still got the thing stuck in my toe (boo hoo Tom!). I'll live but the toe might have to be chopped! (joke, mum!) Oh and we had a snake in our room! Im showering when Row leaps to the door. Quote: "Oh sh!t, there is a fooking snake in our room!" And there it was, only a slim chappie but a good 2 feet long. We gave it plenty of room and thankfully it made its own way out. No panic, but i didn't really want to confront it, especially in my birthday suit! Oh, and we got the traditional pet lizard again! This one always hides behind the mirror in the bathroom! Keep eating those b@stard mozzies buddy!
Photos to follow! tomorrow I hope. Amateur photography has taken a back seat in the last few days but there are a few quality snaps to add to our collection! (The new monkey pics are gold, look out for them!!!).
Future plans: Row finishes tomorrow night (Sunday). We will probably chill on Monday or maybe do a fun dive. Then most probably its north to Bangkok. I dont want to leave Koh Tao! Again, it really is stunning and i could stay and dive forever! I guess sacrifices have to be made and yes, ill admit we are spoilt for choice!
What have I learned in the last 2 weeks:
Thai pop/rock music is truly awful! We got stuck on a monster journey to Koh Samui. The dude had a sub in the coach! unfortunately, his cd's sounded more like eurovision and i had the damned stuff stuck in my head fo days!
Tigerbalm is a godsend! Its like a cross between vaseline and deepheat i guess. Its great for bites, cuts, scratches etc etc. It sure sorted out Rows legs! Awesome, buy some!
Fat, pink british men love Thai brides! Its not just a humourous tale it is so true! Old men on motorbike with 'love you long times' riding side saddle. Careful guys, at least one in five is probably a fella! hahaha!
Oh, I finished my book too! Great sense of achievement! It was a reet monster, 760 odd pages but I mullered it! That takes my (lifelong) tally to 2 books! And no, this does not include the Mr Men or Cat in the Hat.
We are still thinking about you guys. Take it easy and dont do anything i wouldn't. Wait, no. Don't do anything Row wouldn't.
Love to everyone who needs it.
Keep smiling,
Tom.
