Hi peeps,
Left Ko Tao unfortunatley (boo), and we're now in Bangkok. Took us 11 hours to get here which was not fun. We watched the worst movie on the bus I think that I have ever seen. If anyone thinks about watching 'Ultraviolet' DON'T!!!!!!
Got here at 01:30 in the morning, and booked into the nearest hostel we could find. More than we normally pay, but it was nice to have a hot shower and watch a bit of TV. Booked into a cheaper more affordable hotel. On our way out to investigate Bangkok we bumped int Caz and John who we met in India. Small world!!!
Sorted out all the visa's now, so when we come back on Friday we should have Cambodia, Vietnamese and Lao visa's (yey). We also have moved our flight to Oz for 5th December. There is so much more to see on the first leg of the journey than we expected. 6 weeks was not long enough.
Went to the National Gallery and the National Museum today. My feet are absolutley killing me now. Both were fantastic. There was an photo exhibition on the Coup in Thailand, which was v interesting. There were loads of photo's of the military with flowers in their guns and on the tanks, to show that it was a peaceful takeover. All the Thai people were around the streets handing out flowers and having their pics taken wit the soldiers. All the fuss the bbc made of the coup was not needed.
Attempted to find the Golden Buddah in China Town, but no luck. We walked round for ages, following the signs but each time we went down one of the streets..... no luck. Gave up in the end, and got a tuktuk back to our hostel, hungry tired and starving. Will try again.
I've now been fed and watered..... so all OK again. Pork and beef bbq kebabs from one of the street venda's. They do the best food ever. It was pretty funny as the police came down the street getting rid of the stalls with no licence, and our guy legged it. But he came back 3 mins later with our food. Nice guy.
Off to meet the guys in a bit for some drinks and food, and then we need to pack as were off to Kanchanabora (bridge over the river Kwai in the morning for 3 days and then were back to pick up the visa's. )
Take care all
