Hello there,
So we left Ko Tao on a 9pm night boat. The boat was bascially an indoor deck with mattresses all over the floor for you to sleep on! Not the comfiest especially when you have a group of young americans and british mouthing off all night! (how old and boring do i sound!) Trust me they were severly annoying. I nearly snapped at them a few times but i held my tounge to save Tom any embarrassment! Luckily we took some sea sickness pills before we got on otherwise i dont know whether we wuld have survived the bumpy trip! We arrived on the mainland and took a bus to the otherside of the country to a place called Krabi. We decided to spend the night there before heading off to the island of Ko Phi Phi.
Once in Krabi we explored a little. And a little is all we did do as there wasn't much to see. its a sleepy little town with a few restaurants. We initially wanted to maybe hire a kayak and see the coastline but as it is low season no where had any to hire out! The next morning we swiftly moved on to Ko Phi Phi. Yes the islnad that suffered pretty badly from the Tsunami a few years back. The whole time we were there i was convinced there was going to be another one and sought out all the evacuation points! It is a really pretty island and you can still see the destruction from the tsunami which is a shame. We have got some pictures and we'll post them as soon as we can. We stayed on Phi Phi for 3 nights. we both really liked it there. not too busy and not too quiet. The first day when we arrived we walked around for ages and explored the whole place. Sat on the beach for a while until it decided to rain...damn the rainy season! on the second day we hired a kayak...yay! It was so much fun. We paddled to a beach called Monkey Beach. Me being dumb only clicked why it was called so after we reached the island! they looked so cute from the sea...note i say from the sea. As soon as we got on the shore they jumped on our bags and tried to run off. Tom hissed at them to get them away but that just antagonised them and they nearly pounced on us. Tom almost had to beat them with an oar. Oh how he loved monkeys before this incident. Since there was no chance of quietly sun bathing on the beautiful deserted beach without being killed by monkeys we got back in the kayak and paddled about. Until it started raining! Can you see the recurring theme here? Anyway it was warmer in the water rather than out while it was raining so we swam about for a bit desperatly trying to hold onto a floating kayak without getting hit in the face until it stopped. That night we went out for dinner and had a few bevvies on the beach. On the way home we stumbled up[on a bar that bhad a thai boxing ring and that had two english girls in battering each other for a bucket of whiskey (dont worry they had protetcive gear on) having had a little too much thai whiskey myself i was all up for getting in there until Tom dragged me away almost kicking and screaming.
The third day was pretty chilled, we climbed up to a viewpoint from where you could see the whole island. it was beautiful eventhough the trek up there nearly killed us.
Next stop a town called Trang! x
