We arrived in Dunedin after a realtively long drive from one side of the country to the other. We headed straight for the supermarket and then the campsite. Not much to say about the evening- just another Prison Break watched and then to bed!!
Next day we were more active. We were up early and headed to the museum which was pretty cool. It had loads of information about the local area and the settlers but my favourite exhibit had to be that of Shrek the sheep. He was found wandering the hill sides after he masterminded an escape and was carrying something stupid like 30kg of wool- check the picture out! Also of note(pehaps) is that Dunedin is that has the steepest street in the world- truly awe inspring stuff i think you'll agree! Anyone the museum was ok and we then headed to have a look in town. Not much about really so we headed off to see the Otago Peninsular. This is an area of the coast line which leads up to the only mainland area where Albatross are found. We had a look around and also saw some seals lounging about- as they tend to do. We then found a really nice deserted beach and chilled out. There were for some unkown reason a load of dogs on the beach and we spent a far amount of time throwing sticks for them.
We then headed off to the campsite for some dinner!
Next day we rose early and headed back into town.We weren't sure what to do so we decided to go and see a movie but a little known fact about Dunedin is that there is no carpark that you can get a campervan in (due to height restrictions) and the maximum allowed time on the street is 2 hours. I think what Dunedin city council are trying to say is that if you want to watch a movie at the cinema and you are in a campervan you can either park a light year away or just simply don't bother!
We ended up going for a drive along the coast in the opposite direction as yesterday and ended up finding a really nice beach on the tip of the peninsular. We even managed to fit a nap on the beach-. its so hectioc this traveling lark! We headed off to find a campsite we had found which was pretty far away but most importantly free!
