Auckland was different from Christchurch in the fact that it was a lot bigger and a lot less green. It felt more like a city than Christchurch had but it was still well worth going too! There was plenty of things to do ranging from the calm to the damn right stupid!
Our first few days there we spent mainly getting used to the roads which Tom found really easy to negotiate! Our first stop in the City was the Sky Tower. At 328 metres Sky Tower is the tallest tower in the Southern Hemisphere, offering breath-taking views for more than 80 kilometres in every direction. I'd like to say I thought of that info but I actually got it from the website! Whilst up on the Observation deck we got the chance to see some crazy fool do the sky jump which is basically jumping from 192 metres and falling really fast until they stop you just before you smack the concrete! Can't say I really fancied doing that in fact 'I pity the fool!'
Next we took a trip to Mount Eden which is an extinct Volcano! It was a pretty awesome sight to see a massive crater in the middle!
We took a ferry from the Quay to Waiheke Island which was a pretty, paradise island with the clearest water! We spent a couple of hours at the beach and in the little village before deciding to hire some bikes. Going down the hills was good fun especially because there were so many but then Tom made me realise that I had to ride back up them and to say I complained a little would be an understatement and boy did my butt hurt later but still it was worth it just for the beautiful scenery we got to see.
Other places we took a look at was the Museum of Transport and Technology where Tom had fun playing bus driver! Aww! We also went to the zoo where I fit in quite well with the elephants!
On Monday 27th Oct we went to the Vector Arena in the evening to see Rihanna and Chris Brown in concert which was very cool and on Thursday 30 Oct we went to see Stevie Wonder who was just so fantastic I think everyone should go and see him at some point!
Now I promise my cousin Sam that I would do something crazy so Tom and I headed to Rotorua which was the place for craziness! Firstly we went on the Agrojet which was like a little speed boat and the driver takes you really fast around a course and at the end does a 360 degree turn but too be honest we figured that wasnt enough cos we both were just laughing rather than freakin out so Tom suggested doing a swoop! The Swoop is kinda like a bunjy except you are attached at two sides and we both did it together. So we're in these sleeping bag type things being lifted higher and higher into the air until we are horizontal with the very top of the contraption facing the ground. So now I'm like I want to get down and trying to keep the pee in to be honest and the guy counts us down before Tom pulls the rip cord. We were flying faster and faster to the ground and just before we hit it and died we swooped! Phew! Dramatic! So there you go Sammy hope thats good enough and I do have photos for proof!!
So after all the excitement of nearly dying we made a quick stop at Te Puia which was a natural Thermal Valley where there were Geyshers and mud pools and hot pools! It was very cool to see!
And that was our Auckland Adventure!
