Hola!
So we have entered the last continent of our journey! and have been joined by Amys sister Sally and our friend Sarah. We arrived in Beunos Aires capital of Argentina a week ago and it only took 30 minutes of walking down the street before Amy´s bag was pickpocketed taking her money belt which unfortunatly contained her passport, credit and debit cards and about 300 quid in local money! Not a great start in all honesty but these things happen, and in hindsight the guy must have had some skills to get away with it and you´ve got to appreciate talent. It set us back a bit on our plans to travel north but in some way we are lucky that it happened on the first day as it allowed us to get straight onto the embassy to get a new one sorted which they did in half the normal time.
Buenos Aires is a nice place other than the pickpockets, it feels a lot like your your in france or spain and the people are very welcoming despite the fact you feel thick most of the time because you can´t speak Spanish. We are getting better and can confidently order beer and a ham and cheese sandwich so not that bad... We did do a Spanish lesson at the weekend as an attempt at getting better but I think a bit more practice is in order!
Spending a few more days here than we originally planned has allowed us to lots more things which we probably wouldn´t have, we even took on a Tango lesson and then took to the floor in a proper Tango club with all the locals (probably laughing at the uncoordinated gringos attempting to dance) I think we got away with it though...
We went to a local futbol game on Sunday, the notorius Boca Juniors vs. San Lorenzo, the atmosphere was amazing and it was only a crappy league match! It was a real carnival atmosphere with ticker tape, balloons, flares all going off and the songs were ace, you could mumble your way through them and just shout ´San Lorenzo!´ at the right time.
We got Amy a shiny new passport this morning so that means we can head north now on a lovely 18 hour bus journey! We going to Iguazu Falls at the border of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay (which is what the picture is from on the photo for this blog as they didn´t have any of BA) so we´ll report back from there soon,
That´s all for now,
Love to all,
Tom and Amy xxxx
