Kidia, Kilimanjaro and bloody cold weather!
Hello :)
I am just sat at the breakfast table with a coffee... 3 layers on, it's misty and pissing it down!
So after our night in Dar we set off for rural Tanzania. We woke up at 5:30am and all had breakfast. Immediately the team with hit with the s***s and vomiting! One girl looked awful and had been up all night. We sorted her out and then boarded the bus. 11 hours later we arrived in Moshi. By now everyone had made brilliant recoveries and the mood was good :) We changed to two smaller busses to head up the mountain to camp. This was when we realised that we had left another bag behind in Dar! Brilliant.... Now -2 bags.
Camp Kidia is on the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro, how cool is that! I still can't believe we are here, it might not be the top but I'm counting it as done :) On our journey up the hill we were greeted by hundreds of children and families waving and shouting Jambo! (Hello) The road was very steep and very bumpy!
Finally we arrived at camp. There are tents for the boys, bunk huts for the girls and a shower block (A bucket and a cup which you can fill up from the big drum outside over the fire!).
We had a really good evening meal, played some games and I shared some of my travel stories. I settled down in my tent with Dom and that was that.
6:00am - A bloody cockerel has just woken me up! It's been raining most of the night and it's freezing! I know we are at 1800m but were in bloody Africa, what is going on! We are just about to have breakfast and I've just missed the charge for first serving!
Signing off stood in the queue for my Weetabix... Bye x
Ps... The camp has chickens... Just like home! :)
