After an overnight flight from Lima with a change of planes in Buenos Aires we arrived thoroughly knackered in Santiago. The flight in over the Andes was spectacular with all the snowcapped mountains around the plane!

We headed out of the airport, getting mobbed by over enthusiastic taxi drivers in the process. Eventually we beat them off and picked on the least interested one and got him to take us to our hostel.

After a quick sleep we headed up on of the hills for a spectacular view over the city with the Andes in the background. Tiredness forced us to bed early but we were up early the next day for a full day of wandering round the city. We visited all the tourist places and them aimlessly wandered, really enjoying the place. One of our favourite South American cities. We really wished we had more time to spend in Chile.

We had great fun in the main square. Although is was lunchtime, the place was full of prostitutes trying to (and quite often successfully) chat up the businessmen on their lunch break!! Very strange.

We had a fantastic meal and then headed back to the airport for our flight to Auckland.
