Just had lunch at Lin Buffet in Horseheads. Interesting town on the way to Niagara Falls. Tour guide says it is a "typical" American town as it shows how most Americans live, in single storey wooden houses in smallish size towns. American flags erected on front prches are a sign that a member of the family is serving in the armed forces, a tangible reminder to others to pray for their loved ones. Beautiful gorge on the way to Niagara Falls. Rain falling amongst the trees and dripping onto the stone pathways made this a delightful walk through the gorge. Rock formation was stunning and the cascading waterfall into a small pool within Watkins Glen gorge was very pretty. The air was fresh and the smells of the forest were everywhere as we went on this small walk.

Caught the D train to the Cathedral this morning and just made the 9am Service. This enormous neo gothic cathedral is stunning, and yet, it is still to be completed. Dominating the nave are two gigantic exquisite Phoenix made out of scrap material, they literally rise above the people soaring in the lofty heights. A spur of a moment decision to buy tickets for Chicago. The Ambassador Theatre is just across the street from our hotel and we thought we might be lucky ....we were! Caught another train uptown to Yankee Stadium to watch a game between New York Yankees and Blue Jays. Decided months ago that we wanted to experience one sporting event whilst in USA and this was the event!
