Arrived at Tengboche after a hard day's trek. Scenery is getting more beautiful, water getting more expensive and toilets getting worse ;) Lots of up and down today, so height about 3,800m. Based at Namche bazar, we took a morning hike to Shangboche. Amazing weather and scenery again and stopped off at the highest airport in Nepal. The trip was intended to acclimatise us and we got to 3,800m with 60% oxygen whilst enjoying a cup of Ginger tea and our first glimpse of Everest. Arrived at Namche Bazar around 4 after trekking behind a Yak caravan. Disaster struck today, with Donna missing the path and falling approx 30ft down the side, breaking her ankle and potentially her other leg and wrist. She was very brave and was flown by helicopter to Kathmandu. Not a hood start to the day. Namche Bazar, is just that - bazaar. Lots of shops on this hillside oasis, with biccies and treats to buy. Arrived at Kathmandu about 4pm, quick check in and then to explore the town. Needless to say, the Mills/Buick combo got distracted by Diwali and got lost in the similar looking streets. Any excuse to get a decrepit tuk tuk with not enough bum room for a gnat. After a great dinner at Gaia of tikka massala, the early night went out the window and many beers were consumed.
