Hey all, I am now in Cusco, and have fallen in love with the city. There have been loads of celebrations going on as there is a festival of the sun going on. The square has been packed all day with music, dancing and marching and the atmosphere has been great. I was brave and tried guinea pig and alpaca too. Eating the guinea pig was a bit more traumatic seeing the whole thing flattened on my plate with the jaw looking a bit dislocated and poor little face looking up at me as I tucked in. The taste wasn't too bad, was very litttle meat on it, and not sure it would fill you up very much. Alpaca on the other hand was a bit more tasty - meat was a bit like pork, but more dry - could maybe see myself ordering it for myself...

The spas in Baños were lovely. We got chatting to a local who explained that we should be spending 5 mins in the hot water and two minutes in the cold baths. This was a bit of a shock to the system as the hot water was hotter than bath water which was heated from the volcano called Tungurahua next to the town, then after the hot spa came the freezing cold baths which had water which had run straight off the mountains! This morning I continued my madness and decided to go abseiling down waterfalls. This area is so pretty with mountains and waterfalls surrounding the town that it was perfect.
