Our final morning on the boat was more relaxation. We paused for another swim and this time Tessa jumped out of her bedroom window whilst Vikki bombed from the upper deck. Tessa then joined some others in jumping from the roof. Lots of fun!
Straight on the truck for a four hour drive that took us half way to our next activity destination. We stayed in a campsite that Ali had never been to before near the town of Chinhoyi. After dinner Ali gave us a brief history of the country of Zimbabwe. It is difficult to see the difference in what she described this country as once being like - when it was an economic powerhouse built on the strength of farming very fertile lands. As we drive through the countryside it looks very arid and the land is fallow. Many people still struggle to find employment and like most of the other countries we have travelled through so far people in rural areas live at subsistence levels. The average income is $900 per annum.
