Our fourth and final night in Kenya, spent in a proper hotel bed. Not one that you sink in and have to build momentum to climb out of. Although the noice from the AC and Annie during the night made me feel as though I was back out in the bush. I’m not sure what sort of dreams she was having but the noises coming out of her were strange and she goes on at me letting off air, she let off her fair share of bad smelling air during the night.
Woke up around 7am, we had time to chill out in the hotel room this morning until we went down for breakfast and check out, check out being at 10am very early and clearly too early for it all with Annie on go slow this morning. If it’s not spreading her belongings around the room from one end to the other it’s moving slow haha.
The shower was delightful, pressure unreal! Finally!
Then after I shifted Annie slightly we made it down to breakfast for 9am and checked out a little later. Breakfast was delicious buffet and they had passion fruit and papaya - yummy!
We sat around for a little while before ordering an Uber to the Giraffe Sanctuary, where we could feed the Giraffes and see the conservation area, $7 instead of $2000 a night to stay in the manor! (Even though it looks amazing from across the field).
Didn’t realise until we went there that these lovely guys head butt you if they don’t get their own way. Well that’s not what you want if they are sticking their head through the window at you for breakfast, toast with poached egg and a side of head butt please. No thanks!
We weren’t there long, I spotted a cafe and painting/souvenir store on the side of the road on our way here so I pinned it and got an Uber there on the way back. Paintings!! And then Annie twisted our arm for a beer rather than sitting in the foyer of the hotel, make the most of the weather ya know!
We set back to the hotel about 1:30pm and weren’t getting collected until 2:45pm so we had plenty of time to sort out selves out, Sunday traffic is much better in Nairobi! Advise you to travel through the city on this day!
Mike our driver pulled right on time and dropped us to the shed of the airport with just over an hour to spare for boarding, the beauty of not checking bags!!
Security checks coming through our ears with bags getting into the airport, annie struggling with that duffle bag on one shoulder strap. Almost there!!
We had a few more beers and a snack before going to board, which seemed to be very early! Eager beavers in this place I tell you!
Still didn’t take off until 5 minutes after schedule, but the flight time is shorter than expected so that’s all of a bonus!
22:30pm expected landing in Dubai, that will be the latest we have been awake this weekend haha!
A woman on the plane must love the sound of her own voice. She did not stop talking for a solid 4 and half hours. We were twiddling our thumbs so we played heads up on the plane to kill an hour or so.
Landed on time, great! Now we can swiftly move through security only the airport had other thoughts. We were going to queue for ages at the train to security, going through security and then a solid 50 minutes in the god damn taxi queue! Now we were tired and late getting through the door so tomorrow maybe a little bit of a struggle!
However, what a trip! What a weekend!
